Our mission
Our mission is simple: help people connect, share, and participate online on their own terms.
We believe technology should support genuine human connection — not compete for attention through restrictive algorithms, invasive advertising, or dark patterns that prioritize engagement over wellbeing.
By hosting and supporting open-source Fediverse platforms, we help individuals and communities retain control over their online identities. Profiles and conversations aren’t locked into a single service; they can move, grow, and remain connected across interoperable networks.
This work is guided by a respect for choice, autonomy, and thoughtful self-expression. The goal isn’t to replace one platform with another, but to help people feel more confident and comfortable navigating the digital spaces they choose to inhabit.
Herron’s Federated Services is a small, human-centered project, shaped by hands-on experience with decentralized systems, privacy-respecting tools, and the realities of helping people learn new technology at their own pace.

Our vision
We envision a healthier, more decentralized internet — one where communities are shaped by the people who use them, not by opaque systems or engagement metrics.
By supporting open protocols and interoperable platforms, we aim to help grow online spaces that encourage curiosity, mutual respect, and sustainable participation rather than scale for its own sake.
Ultimately, the vision is practical and grounded: helping people feel more informed, more capable, and more at ease in their digital lives — connected to others, aligned with their values, and free to choose how and where they engage.
